SeeSaw: A Dual Biography of Anne Bancroft and Mel Brooks

  By far the best book out there for info about Mel's life before the big screen. While Bancroft and Brooks did not collaborate with Holtzman, there are many first person accounts. Focuses on Mel Brooks as a child, his struggles from the theater to the boob toob and even the big screen. Not a very easy book to find for purchase, though your local college library should have a copy. I first read a copy from the Torrance Public Library (Torrance, CA) and later snagged one from Powells for the unbelievable price of $4.95

  This book has some great photos including Mel's high school yearbook entry, early career photos of Anne & one of my favorites, the picture of Mel & Alfred Hitchcock.
