02-06-07 : Goodbye Frankie Laine

Frankie Laine passed away today at the age of 93. Laine’s career included over 70 records spanning virtually every music style. After his success in the late 40’s and 50’s Laine enjoyed a second career singing the title songs for various movies and television shows. His rendition of Rawhide no doubt was a factor in Mel’s pursuit of him for the title song of the 1974 hit Blazing Saddles. So long, Mr. Rhythm.
