News Archive for 'General'American Cinemateque is hosting a slew of Mel Brooks & Carl Reiner double feature screenings starting Thur through next week. Mel & Carl will be attendance this weekend for several of them. Unfortunately, I’ll be out of town but hopefully YOU can make it. I received an interesting e-mail last week from a very considerate lady named Sally who is trying to identify a set of records her late husband had left behind. The records are dated from 1967 and labeled West, Weir & Bartel, INC. Two of the records are in the original sleeves and don’t appear to […] Mel Brooks fan N. Wolf sent this tip to a Playbill article in which Mel discusses the current status of the Blazing Saddles musical. It’s ALIVE!!!! Oh wait, that’s the wrong movie. Okay, anybody got a shit load of dimes? About 1,000 for a ticket? There should be a discount for those paying in dimes! Mel, along with Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen, Grace Bumbry and David Brubreck were recipients of The 2009 Kennedy Center Honors presented on Dec 6th. The event will be broadcast December 29th (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, […] Steve Heisler interviews Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner prior to the release of the new 2000 Year Old Man CD/DVD set. I had heard little murmurs about this, but I’m really glad that Mel and Carl are healthy and still interested in entertaining the world. Here is […] Today the world said goodbye to Dom DeLuise. Dom was a “regular,” and it was always fun to see where he might pop up in the latest Brooks feature. I will always remember him for his roles in Blazing Saddles, as the flamboyant director, and History of the World Part I, as the emperor. Dom […]

Comments: none Hey All, Argh! That’s all I have to say tonight. It’s 7:20pm and I just found out the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, California (25 minutes from my place) is in the middle of a Mel Brooks “marathon”. Of coure, tonight (in about 1 minute) they will be showing Blazing Saddles followed by History of the World […] Well, today our friends at the MGM booth and the G4TV booth came through on some Spaceballs stuff. THe G4TV booth handed out little black polyester bags with a rocket and silloute of dark helmet on them along with a promo card (4 x 6) advertising the series for Fall 2007. The MGM booth also […] |
